Gala Success

An evening of great success, the third annual ‘Reason for the Season’ Gala fundraiser charmed its guests into giving a great amount to a great cause…the kids. This year’s event grossed close to $10,000 for the noble non profit organization Elevation Outdoors, a local group that takes at-risk and disadvantaged youth in the Kelowna area and lets them experience outdoor sports.

There are many aspects involved in creating a harmonious fundraiser. A beautiful ambiance provided by the Hotel Eldorado’s new banquet room, a stunning space bordered by floor to ceiling windows overlooking Okanagan Lake, set the stage for a prosperous night of food, drinks, music and fundraising.  The entertainment, music from Johnny Vs Johnny, provided an engaging atmosphere for casual mingling or cerebral socializing. An all star line up of donated goods and services was a key factor in the crowd’s generosity. Silent and live auction items were a wide array of themes ranging from quaint get-a-way packages, to a ‘Smokin’ Joe Frazier signed robe, and finishing with a Mark Filatow hosted private dinner party for eight guests. Lastly, the 130 guests in this year’s Gala night played a key role in our achievements throughout the evening, and we cannot underplay their spirit and benevolence.

I must send out a heartfelt thank you to everyone involved in the 2011 ‘Reason for the Season’ Gala. The donors, volunteers, gala working participants and guests made this event an incredible success. To my family and friend’s, thank you for continuing to support me in my endeavours, you inspire and motivate me to ‘give back’ everyday.
