Elevation Outdoors Helps Kelowna Youth

As this year’s mild October approaches an end, Okanagan Valley residents begin to turn their thoughts to higher elevations where the next instalment of recreational escape can take place. Whatever your preference is; snowboards or skis, snowshoes or snowmobiles, cross-country or downhill, Big White or Silver Star the options are endless for many residents. There are, however, pockets of the less fortunate within our community whose everyday life does not allow for the benefits of such a richly diverse natural habitat. The organization I belong to, Elevation Outdoors, attempts to expose underprivileged youth to such experiences.
Elevation Outdoors is a non-profit organization that works with disadvantaged youth in the community to develop their passion for activity in, and respect for, the outdoors. We believe that engaging youth in the outdoors and in healthy living will help them to grow into active, strong members of our community. Elevation Outdoors runs two snowboarding programs during the winter and one mountain biking program during the summer for youth between the ages of 11-17. These programs give youth the opportunity to try a new sport, and give our mentors the opportunity to connect and educate these youth in various life skills.
We would like to formally invite you to attend this year’s ‘Reason for the Season Gala’. Tickets to this year’s event will be $60 which includes a three course meal, and an evening of entertainment. As well, if you are interested in making a contribution in support of this year’s fundraiser we are asking for donations of silent and live auction items, door prizes, and cash.
